Whitney went back to school today. I know she really wanted to go back so yesterday I told her I better see her eating food and showing me she was capable of taking care of herself. Her throat is hurting way more than her nose so eating is not fun. Surprisingly she found out she likes jello. Well she did everything I asked so she drove back today. I drove up too (Dan was running a fever so he had to stay home) to help unload the car since she isn't supposed to be lifting anything heavy. And boy does that girl have some clothes.
There was hardly anyone there so we got a good parking place and were able to leave things in the lobby as we took the suitcases up the elevator. I helped her unpack and brought the suitcases home. Of course if she forgot anything I would be seeing her twice next week for doctor followup appointments.
When I got home, the house was so quiet. Her bathroom was clean and the bedroom looked somewhat presentable. It's back to cooking for two and having lots of leftovers.
I love my child but I know that she is happy to go back to school and be with her friends. Even though we've lived here her whole life, she really likes her college friends better. So it is good that she gets to be with people she can talk to (other than us of course).
Sorry, but I would have to draw the line on the clothes. heehee If Squirrel can't fit it in her suitcase and keep the suitcase stored at college than she doesn't need it. Mostly what we move over break are her books anyway. I just saw the stack in her room - whew. Glad I don't have to carry anything and we have Wallene to help.
ReplyDeleteAmazingly enough Squirrel cleaned her bathroom too today. Must be something in the air. :)
I know it is going to be really quiet here tomorrow too - but at least we still have Wallene. Sometimes it just seems so weird to go from 5 down to 1 - heaven only knows what we will do when they are all gone.
Enjoy your week!
So glad she is on the mend. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the quiet. Summer will be here before you know it.
I went to college only a couple hours away and loved having both of those worlds. My own independence and friends, but also near enough to get Mom time if I needed it!
