What do you take if you have to evacuate

Last week we had a range of wildfires all around us. Lucky for us they were several miles away and not coming towards us but terrible for those affected. One of the things you do in a situation like that is mentally prepare for what do you take if you have to leave your house and never see anything else in it again. I made a list so I wouldn't forget anything. You know that less than 5 minutes you have to shove everything in a car moment. So my list was something like photos, family videos, jewelry, change of clothes. The last thing on my list humored Dan. The only reason I wrote it down was because Whitney told me to. It was to take Abby. Now Abby is as much a part of the family as any of us. And I would never forget her. But Dan kept the note just in case something happens in the future we know not to forget Abby.

  1. I'm sure Abby feels better that she's on the list too! I wouldn't think of jewelry, probably because I don't have much of value anyway, but I would take any medications, some cash, a list of important phone numbers, a little food. And definitely the pictures and home movies.

  2. The jewelry was not exactly an expansive list....we don't have much. Essentially, it meant wedding rings and a necklace a family member gave Whitney that means a lot to her. The computer has important files we need. Everything other than the things on that list are just stuff that can be replaced.
