1. Have you ever played golf? Any interest in playing? Do you have a significant other who loves to play? Did you watch The Masters this past weekend?
Does miniature golf count? I have a bad shoulder so I've never played the real sport. Dan has played but not lately. I drove the cart for him once, my one experience at the golf course. We've watched the Masters in the past (like 10-15 years ago) but haven't lately. Mostly I watched because of the scenery. I can never see the ball flying in the air even with the cameras following it.
2. Hats are back in fashion this spring...how do you feel about wearing a hat? (fyi-I'm not talking baseball caps) When was the last time you wore one?
No hats for me. I think I look terrible in them. No ball caps, no cowboy hats, no stocking caps. Nothing.
3. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 meaning proficient and 1 meaning "I'd starve", how adept are you at using chopsticks?
I'd say probably a 7-8. I love sushi so I figured I'd better learn how to use it for that. When I get pad thai I start off with chopsticks and when I'm tired, I switch to a fork. Lately that has gotten less frequent so I must be getting more adept at it. No rice though. And if you watch people using them, a lot of times they use the shovel/slurp method. You know keeping their face close to the bowl/plate. I don't think that is attractive.
4. Has technology taken over?
The age old question. Technology has been taking over since the days of the steam engine. We just have to accept it and adapt.
5. In the course of a day how often do you look in a mirror?
Only when in the bathroom or after I eat to make sure there is nothing in my teeth.
6. Tulip or Daffodil?
I like tulips. Growing up in Wisconsin we had them planted outside the house and I thought they were so pretty. I know we can grow them in Oklahoma but it just seems like too much of an effort to get one flower out of the bulb.
7. I am proud of myself for __________________.
Taking a two+ week vacation this summer. I haven't done this in years and I've warned everyone that once I leave I'm not looking at emails so they will have to just survive without me. How many people think that this is really going to happen?

Whitney sent a text at 1pm on Sunday to see if she could come for Easter dinner. We had nothing planned (i.e. no food) and she wanted to bring a friend. I ran to the store, bought a ham and side dish stuff and by 5:30 we had dinner on the table. Thank goodness hams are pre-cooked and all you have to do is warm them up. Met another of her friends and I have to say she has had excellent taste in girlfriends this school year. Joining her sorority was the best thing she did.

Great list! Sororities are great, I love my sisters! I graduated from college in 2004, but am still very active in my alumni chapter. Some of my family was visiting a couple of weeks ago and something was mentioned about my sorority and he says "you're still in that?" and I said "oh yes, it's for life!"

ReplyDeleteI'm still close friends with girls from my sorority and both my daughters joined one too (the same one which is fun). How nice you're close enough for her to pop home. I would love to be that geographically close to mine. One of these days...
ReplyDeleteSame thing happened with Squirrel this weekend! She came home from school, as a suprise, to see me and "we" invited her boyfriend to visit too. He is very sweet, and we are closer when she is home than when she is at college [for him to visit.] They requested fried chicken. Plus I put on a huge spread for lunch when he arrived, after feeding everyone a hot breakfast. I sat down 3 times - for five minutes each - from 9 in the morning until 8 pm. I kissed everyone goodnight, skipped my own fried chicken and boom! fell asleep like a rock. But we're Moms it is what we do, right? It was worth every single minute. And also why I let Dad grill the main course for Easter. giggle. [Did you send her back to school with a goody bag of leftovers? Nothing like your home cooking!]
ReplyDeleteI was under the impression that those cultures that use chopsticks also hold their bowls closer to their faces to eat, but certainly don't slurp. It is culturally acceptable and my friends I went to college did this. I am about a 3. I think they're fun but too tough going with hot things like stir fry/rice. It is much easier for me to pick up the solid sushi, because it is a bigger target. :D I wish you lived close by because they opened the most wonderful sushi restaurant - the food is delicious, not to mention beautiful [almost too pretty to eat] and the service is so friendly and attentive. All of that is very rare around here. I know we would have fun! :)
