TV Wrap UP

I just wanted to give a quick tv wrapup since we are coming to the end of many series.

Revenge
Let's just say that the last ten minutes of Sunday's show were action packed (really a samuri swordfight and the lights going out in NYC) and I can't wait for the two hour finale this Sunday. They still haven't announced if they get a third season but I'm sure it will be around for next year. Although the creator is not going to be working on the show anymore. So I wonder where it will go from here.

The Voice
I keep catching parts of the show. So I'm not really following it, but Adam Levine sure knows how to recognize talent. I'm sure the winner will be someone he picked.

The Chew
Let's just say I watch this every day when I come home from work simply for the dynamics of the hosts. Carla, Michael and Clinton make my day. I could do without Mario and Daphne.

Person of Interest
I'm behind in this one by a couple of weeks. I always tape it because I have bible study that night and then don't watch it right away. But it is a very well made show.

Fashion Star
OK, here's my cheesey show. I only watch it online so as not to take up dvr space. And I skip a lot of it. My prediction is that Hunter wins.

What shows have I given up on this year? These shows have "jumped the shark."

Glee - just can't do it anymore.
Project Runway - I love Tim Gunn and he couldn't save a "team challenge" show.
Once Upon a Time - sorry Whitney, I just lost interest.

What am I looking forward too? Why So You Think You Can Dance of course! It starts up next week and when I saw who the all-stars were, I got really excited. For you see one of my favorite male dancers, Mark Kanemura will be back along with Twitch. I will leave you with previews of two of my favorite dances from the show featuring each of them.

Friday Fragments

Yippee it is Friday and I made it through the week. Short work weeks are killer. I'm joining up with Mrs. 4444 to share it all.

Mommy's Idea

Someone in my cul-de-sac decided that their lawn service should start mowing at 7am. Only saving grace for me is I was already up since it was a work day. If it was the weekend, guns may have been blazing even though I don't own any. And last night our neighbor decided to mow at 8:30pm. In the dark. I wonder what that yard will look like today.

OU's football game is pay per view on Saturday which means we will be listening on the radio. Much easier now that we have better announcers. Or else maybe I'll go shopping since it will be easier together around town.

I am determined to cook one new recipe a week this fall. And it is only going to be in the 80's this weekend so cooking in the oven is allowed. All those pins and bookmarks are being looked over and passed on to Dan for his perusal. I'm thinking something with chicken since we have 8 pounds in the freezer.

Some helpful reminders to myself...When using a heating pad, turning it on makes it work much better. And remember to put the heat side towards your body.

The county fair is this weekend in town. First event today was meat goat judging. Do I want to know what that is?

Started going over 22 pages of definitions for my certification test. Some of these are just stupid. Budget - The detailed statement outlining estimated project costs to support work under a grant or contract. Did I really need them to tell me that? Isn't it pretty obvious what a budget is?

After I posted the dance video last week, guess who showed up on So You Think You Can Dance this week as an all-star? Benji! And he was just as good this week as he was six years ago.

So I'm going to post a video of another of my favorites in hopes that he shows up next week.

Thursday Means Friday is Almost Here

This has been a really hard week at work. I've been in panic mode all week which I don't do. The crisis isn't over, although I'm hoping the solution will be found today. It is very frustrating when one person decides to interpret a rule in one way that NO ONE ELSE in the country interprets that way. Let's just say lawyers are now involved and on initial view, they are on my side. There's a lot of money at stake so I'm hoping that their ruling will be the right one.

So in light of this mess, I'm going to try and reflect on lovely things today. Like this new blog hop I'm doing. Mingle with Us by Happy-Go-Lucky. I like that name so I'm going with it.

Happy Go Lucky

Or how about my review of So You Think You Can Dance last night. Dan asked me if the talent this year wasn't as good (which tells me he is paying attention) and I think he's right. He asked if I would pay to see any of the dancers and I said Alex Wong. He said how about the competitors. I said no. I did list a bunch of dancers but they were all male so he wondered about females. I said I had watched girls dance for 14 years so I'm onto the boys now. LOL.

Here's one of my favorite routines from years past. And it has a girl in it too (just for you honey).

I almost forgot the review. I think Eliana is the best girl dancer and she should win. Boys is a little trickier. There isn't a stand out great dancer but there is a personality. I don't like that they seem to hide Cyrus' lack of dance and don't call him out on it like they do the really trained dancers. This deep in the competition, you'd better be dancing your heart out.

The big high school rival football game is tonight in the university stadium. Now that Whitney is in college, I don't go. But I still want the Tigers to win.

Emmy Nominations

The Emmy nominations came out this morning. I don't watch a lot of regular tv so I have no idea who some of these people are nor do I know the shows. Plus I don't get HBO, Showtime or any of those kind of stations. I do watch Glee and noticed that none of the main characters were nominated. I'm sure that is because the main storylines were really sucky this year. But good old Sue and Kurt were nominated. They are great no matter what they are given.

But I'm really excited about the choreography category. Did you know they have that? Well you would if you are a fan of So You Think You Can Dance. I absolutely love this show. Last night as we watched, Whitney and I started naming all the dances that we thought would be nominated. And we had them all right. Guess we are pretty good judges. It looks like each choreographer who was nominated had three dances listed. I don't know if they award on a body of work or an individual dance. But they can give out more than one so I'm hoping that they get more than one.

My favorites had to be Alex and Twitch's hip hop "Outta This World". Entertainment Weekly named it the number 1 dance from all seven seasons of the show. It is fantastic. It is too bad that Alex got hurt the following week and had to withdraw from the competition because he would have won. I'm hoping that next week he is announced as an All-Star for the rest of this season.

This Week in Review (And yes I know it is Thursday)

I figured I would get my reality tv review in early eventhough the So You Think You Can Dance results show is tonight.

The Voice

Well we all know who is going to win this one. It was pretty obvious from day 1 that Javier had it in the bag. And yes he is that good. For the semi-finals, I think Cee-Lo had the strongest team. Either of his members would be good in the finals. I personally find Beverly's WOOOOO in every song annoying. The judges all wimped out except for Adam awarding equal points to each of their singers and leaving it up to America. Hey, isn't that what next week is for. Thank you Adam for making a statement and actually doing your job.

They are holding auditions for season 2. I will not be auditioning since I cannot sing. A blind audition would not help me at all.

So You Think You Can Dance

Week two brings us all 20 dancers again in the same partnerships as last week. And another guest judge, Debbie Reynolds. I understand she was a dancer a long time ago, but please bring back rotating GOOD judges who can actually comment on the dancers constructively. I really didn't need a Woody Woodpecker impression or telling the dancers that I want to take you home with me. Really, I can do a better job than that. There were not any real standout dances last night. And finally we showed the first cracking of a dancer in a different genre. Four dancers go home tonight. Last week I was so wrong about the bottom 3. I didn't like Sasha/Alexander. I think Clarice/Jess didn't do well. Wadi was terrible at the cha-cha although his partner did very well at it. Of course, I don't really like his partner so she could go home. I thought Tadd did an awesome job at the Viennese Waltz (I'm sure he has taken classes other than his freestyle B-Boy stuff). Also Miranda/Robert did a really good hip hop number. They were in the bottom last week, maybe because of his Wooing. He didn't do that this week so hopefully that will keep them out of the bottom. Iveta/Nick weren't that great but I find it hard to believe that the judges would send the only ballroom/tap dancers home. So if they are in the bottom, sorry for the other couples, you are gone.

So we can see how my predictions do tonight.

Reality TV - The Week in Review

OK I'm a reality tv junkie. I admit I have a problem. I am selective, but when I decide to watch something, I watch it from beginning to end.

The Voice

We had to watch this one online because of the storm Tuesday night. I admit the best part of a DVR is skipping commercials. We had the same stupid Latisse commercial 10 times online. OK for the show they announced the two "saves" for teams Blake and Christina. Christina did not suprise me at all. Blake...WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?! The viewer one was fine, but Blake chose Xenia, who shouldn't have even made it to that round. Maybe he thinks this is "The Voice Who I Can Mold and Needs Me the Most". Terrible choice and there is no way anyone from his team will win.

We had performances from Teams Cee-Lo and Adam. Cee-Lo decided that his singers really needed some backup talent/fire twirlers/dancers. Very distracting there. Maybe that was to mask the bad song choices. Hopefully Cee-Lo won't make the same mistake Blake did and pick the sister group. Yikes.I'm sure the viewers will pick Nakia, who is pretty awesome.  Adam had a much better team to start with. He may have a tough decision ahead. It was unfortunate that Javier sang that song that plays during the dog/cat commercial about animal shelters. We couldn't even watch it it is so depressing.

Not sure what next week brings but I saw that there is two shows.

Top Chef Masters

It was the season finale of this show. Three very talented accomplished chefs cooking the best meal of their lives. Sometimes this seems like odd choices. The first season where Rick Bayless won has to be the best cohesive meal I think. Floyd won, a very nice man. Of course I was hoping Mary Sue would win because her food seems the most approachable to me. Plus I remember watching her on Two Hot Tamales years ago.

So You Think You Can Dance

Thank goodness that the best "talent" show is back on the air. I so love watching good dancing. And boy the talent just keeps getting better each year. The performers really got to stick with their normal genre except for a few. I think that helped because people could see how good they really are, instead of having to do something so outside what they normally do and screwing up. I was really wrong about who America would vote into the bottom three. None of the ones that I thought deserved to be there were in the bottom. And then they had these breathtaking solos to stay on the show. How could anyone choose to send someone home? The judges even had two of the boys do it again so they could pick.

And then the biggest cop out of the year when they decided not to send anyone home. Two couples will go home next week. Personally I think that they didn't want to send any of those dancers home because they didn't like how America voted. I think that there were weaker dancers safe and they wanted to give America another chance to get it right. I hope that next week they make people go outside their comfort zone and then we'll be able to see how they do.

The group dance was pretty awesome I have to say too.
